Eversource warns of scams for National Consumer Protection Week

National Consumer Protection Week is this week, and Eversource is reminding customers to be vigilant for scammers posing as representatives of the company.

Reports have said scammers threaten to cut off customers' power unless an immediate payment is made or use aggressive marketing tactics to sell "discounted power."

In a release, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Penni Conner tells customers to call the police immediately if they suspect someone is impersonating an Eversource representative in person or on the phone.

The company also asks customers to decline any door-to-door offers or requests to discuss energy rates with someone claiming to be an Eversource employee, and never provide account information or send a payment with a prepaid debit card.

Customers who believe they have been targeted by a scammer can call Eversource at 1 (800) 286-2000.
