Griswold -- A Danielson man died late Saturday night after the car he was driving crossed the double yellow line on Route 164 and struck another car head on. Robert Rubenoff, 73, who was the lone occupant in his Chevrolet Malibu was first taken to The William W.Backus hospital and then transferred to Hartford Hospital where he later died, according to state police.

Police said Rubenoff was driving south on Route 164 at 10:03 p.m. when he crossed the double yellow line and struck a northbound BMW driven by Kenneth Yin of Lowell, Mass. Yin and two of his passengers sustained minor injuries while a third suffered serious injuries. They were all taken to Backus Hospital. All are from Lowell.

Police said the road was not lit in the area of the crash. Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Gardner at Troop E in Montville at (860) 848-6500.
