Groton City police chief will retire June 1

Groton — Groton City Police Chief Thomas Davoren, who led the department for five years, will retire on June 1.

Davoren was appointed police administrator in the Groton City in 2011 and sworn in as chief in August 2012.

Prior to his post in Groton, he served 27 years with the Connecticut State Police and four years with East Hartford Police Department.

“I hope people will feel that I left the department in good shape,” said Davoren, 60. “We have a young, thoughtful, caring cadre of folks that I am very confident will serve the city residents well.” He said his wife recently retired and he will be spending time with family.

Deputy Chief Michael Guillot will run the department after Davoren leaves until a new chief is selected.
