    New London police nab 1.5 kilograms of heroin, make 2 arrests

    New London — City and state police on Monday night nabbed a “major heroin distributor” along with 1.5 kilograms of heroin, according to police.

    Yeudi Lora-Capellan, 29, of 34 Walden Ave., Apt. 2, was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, possession of more than 4 ounces of narcotics with intent to sell, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school and operating a drug factory.

    Yohendy Gonzalez, 26, of 22 Harbor View, Waterford, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

    Police said narcotics officers and members of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East at 8:53 p.m. conducted a traffic stop of the two men's vehicle. After officers found heroin, police said, they then executed a search-and-seizure warrant at 114 Blinman St., Apt. 2. Police said the traffic stop and subsequent apartment search netted 18 grams of cocaine, 1.51 kilograms of heroin, $6,120 cash, drug paraphernalia and a vehicle.

    According to police, the arrests concluded a monthlong investigation.
