One killed, two injured in Norwich crash on I-395

Norwich — One person was killed and two were injured in a crash on Interstate 395 north late Sunday night.

The collision occurred around 11 p.m. near Exit 18 and Old Canterbury Turnpike when a Ford F-150 driven by Victoria Berube of Suffield attempted to change lanes, according to an accident report by state police.

The truck hit a Ford Escape XLT driven by Christopher Fink of Moosup and lost control, crossing both lanes, hitting the guardrail and the cement support for an overpass.

Rotating clockwise, the truck then hit a guardrail on the opposite side of the road and came to rest in the southbound travel lane.

Front seat passenger Benjamin St. Pierre, 23, of Enfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Berube and rear seat passenger Eric Lemieux of Enfield were transported by American Ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital for suspected serious injuries, and were later transferred to Harford Hospital. Both were listed in fair condition Monday morning.

    Fink was uninjured.

    The accident remains under investigation.
