Police: Suspect with gun attempted robbery at Waterford ATM

Waterford — Police are on the lookout for an armed suspect they said attempted to rob a woman as she was using a drive-up ATM on July 23.

According to Lt. Steve Bellos, the woman pulled up to the Liberty Bank at 165 Boston Post Road about 9:30 p.m. July 23.

She already had put her card in the reader when a man with a handgun approached her, at which point she drove off and went straight to the police station.

Bellos said officers brought a K-9 to the scene and attempted to track the suspect, but had no success. They collected evidence from the scene and have since obtained surveillance video footage from Liberty Bank and neighboring Gabrieles Martial Arts.

Bellos said police don’t have a great description of the suspect because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, but they believe he is light-skinned, has curly hair and is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (860) 442-9451.
