Norwich — Two men are in custody after they allegedly invaded a home in the Occum section of the city and assaulted a person inside.

According to police, the invasion took place at 4:37 a.m. Saturday in a residence near Bridge Street. On arrival, officers learned two men had entered the home. The pair allegedly pointed a handgun at the two occupants inside.

Police said one of the men assaulted one of the occupants, then both perpetrators left. Officers quickly developed two suspects and located both within hours of the incident, according to police.

Christopher J. Manuel, 28, of Stafford Springs was charged with home invasion, second-degree threatening and third-degree assault.

Sean M. Simmons, 29, of 242 Old Canterbury Turnpike was charged with home invasion, second-degree threatening and interfering with a 911 call.

Police didn’t say why Simmons was charged with interfering.

Held on a $100,000 bond, Manuel was arraigned Monday in Norwich Superior Court and is next due there Nov. 20.

Information about Simmons' court date was not immediately available.
