New London — Police are inviting the public to join them Friday for a “Coffee with a Cop” event intended to break down communication barriers between officers and residents.

The event is slated to take place at Muddy Waters, 42 Bank St., from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

Police said the function will allow residents to ask questions and express concerns in an agenda-free environment. Residents also will be able to meet some of the officers that work in their neighborhoods.
