New London — Two city men were arrested after they allegedly got into a fight on Bank Street early Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Vargas, 26, of 325 Huntington St. was charged with breach of peace and carrying a dangerous weapon, New London police Capt. Brian Wright said. Raymond Rivera, 47, of 135 Blydenburg Ave. was charged with breach of peace.

Wright said the weapon was a tire iron. It isn't clear whether it was used during the altercation.

Vargas was released on a $5,000 nonsurety bond and Rivera on $1,000, Wright said.

About 12:11 p.m., the first 911 call came in, reporting men fighting — possibly with objects — in the area of 625 Bank St., Wright said.

Both were taken to the police station and released later Thursday. They are set to appear in New London Superior Court on March 1.
