    Two New London men arrested on drug charges

    New London — Two New London men were arrested Monday after police confronted them in the parking lot of a gas station and later found 9.3 grams of crack cocaine, according to a New London Police Department news release.

    Narcotics officers tried to reach the occupants of a car at the gas station at 3:25 p.m. on Monday, when the driver fled with another man in the passenger seat, the release said.

    The driver, identified as 27-year-old Joshua Fine, hit multiple other cars as he was driving away from police, the release said.

    Fine and his passenger then ran from police on foot near 202 Colman St., the release said. Police set up a perimeter around the area, and New London K-9 Iris tracked and found Fine and 21-year-old Xavier Maddox hiding in Bates Woods Park behind 202 Colman St.

    Fine, of 156 Bank St., was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, sale of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal attempted assault on a police officer, first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with police, engaging police in a pursuit, evading responsibility, driving with a suspended license and two counts of reckless driving, according to the release.

    Maddox, of 64 Jefferson Ave., was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with police, the release said.

    Police said they seized 9.3 grams of crack cocaine, $1,159, a digital scale and electronic devices.
