Storrs — A report by University of Connecticut economists says the state's economic growth has evaporated.

The Connecticut Economic Outlook released Thursday says data from the U.S. Commerce Department previously said Connecticut's growth from 2012 to 2013 was second only to Massachusetts in the Northeast.

But government data released June 10 shows Connecticut's economy grew a tiny 0.6 percent last year, or No. 42 in the nation. The report says it "demolished the basis" for optimistic growth projections by UConn economists for this year and 2016.

The UConn report says job creation, which is 22,000 below the previous peak in 2008, will likely stall and may even decline.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and the legislature are under pressure by business groups to drop or limit proposed tax increases that employers say will kill jobs.
