2 men killed in separate accidents on Interstate 91

WALLINGFORD (AP) — Two men have died in separate accidents Saturday on Interstate 91 in central Connecticut.

State police said David Sanchez, 51, of New Haven was killed when his car rear-ended a tractor-trailer, wedged underneath it, and caught fire at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The crash happened near southbound Exit 13 in Wallingford. The truck driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

WTNH-TV reports police say a Bronx, N.Y., man was killed in the same area at about 2:30 a.m., when the car he was riding in hit another car and overturned.

The car's driver, 28-year-old Sean Brown of Ardsley, N.Y., and another passenger, 25-year-old Jasmine Clifford of Greenwich, were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The occupants of the other car weren't hurt.

The accidents backed up the highway for several hours Saturday morning.
