Euthanasia appeal continued for dogs accused in mauling
Plainfield — An appeal to prevent the euthanasia of two Rottweilers accused of mauling a woman has been continued to allow attorneys to agree on whether the hearing should be open to the public.
The two Plainfield Rottweilers, Phoenix and Malaki, are scheduled to be put down Dec. 3 after police say they attacked and scarred Lynne Denning, of Canterbury, last December.
An appeal to return the dogs was continued to Oct. 1 after attorneys for the town of Plainfield and Denning filed a motion to prevent the public from attending the hearing.
The Bulletin reports lawyers for Denning say that showing graphic images could violate her privacy rights. An attorney for the dogs' owner says the public has a legitimate interest in the disclosure of evidence.
