Two women being treated after being attacked by a fox

SCITUATE, Mass. (AP) — Police here are warning residents to be careful after two women reported being attacked by a fox.

The attacks occurred in the same general area within a 12-hour period Thursday.

Both victims were treated for bite wounds and are getting rabies shots.

One woman tells WYCN-TV the fox latched onto her foot and she ran into her house with her children ages 5 and 8 watching. She got the animal off her and out of the house, but it jumped onto her arm. She said there was blood everywhere.

The other victim's husband tells the station his wife threw coffee and her backpack at the fox.

Animal control is trying to locate the fox.
