    Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson to make stop in Maine

    PORTLAND, Maine — Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson is holding a pair of campaign stops in Maine.

    The Sun Journal reports Johnson will appear in Portland and Lewiston on Friday.

    He will first stop at a brunch at Portland's Regency Hotel at 11:30 a.m. and then hold a 6 p.m. rally at Lewiston's Gendron Franco-American Heritage Center.

    The Lewiston event is open to the public, but all ticket reservations have already been claimed. The campaign is taking reservations for the Portland event.

    Johnson's in the midst of a drive to raise his polling profile to 15 percent so he can qualify for a spot in presidential debates with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.

    Johnson was governor of New Mexico and he is running with former Massachusetts governor William Weld.
