New York robber who wore red wig, used paintball gun sentenced to prison

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a suburban New York woman has been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison after admitting she robbed three banks in New Jersey and Connecticut using a paintball gun. She also used an elderly man's checks to steal nearly $200,000.

Michelle Cantatore, of White Plains, New York, was sentenced on Wednesday in Newark, New Jersey. She previously pleaded guilty bank robbery and wire fraud.

Cantatore in February 2015 donned a red wig and sunglasses and robbed a Glen Rock Savings Bank in Glen Rock using what looked like a long-barreled handgun. Police later tracked her to an Atlantic City hotel.

Cantatore has also been sentenced to three years of supervised release and must pay more than $400,000 in restitution.
