Police: Man arrested in dispute over crack pipe

NORWALK — Police say a Norwalk man was charged with assault after he physically attacked an acquaintance who knocked a crack pipe out of his hand.

Roy Thompson, 55, of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass Wednesday night.

Police were dispatched to a South Main Street residence at around 7:30 p.m. on a report of an assault. Officers encountered the complainant, who had an apparent facial injury and was bleeding.

The injured person told police that they responded to a knock on the door and found Thompson standing there. Police said that Thompson entered the home and began smoking crack, at which time the complainant told him to leave and knocked the crack cocaine onto the floor.

Thompson became angry, police said, and struck the victim in the face and knocked him to the ground.

Police said Thompson turned himself in at Norwalk police headquarters and was arrested.

His bond was set at $10,000 and he was given a court date of Nov. 10.
