Rhode Island mother faces charges in infant daughter's death

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — The mother of a 7-month-old baby who died in February is now facing charges in connection with her daughter's death.

WPRI-TV reports that court records show 34-year-old Mariah Ramos faces a charge of cruelty to or neglect of a child. She pleaded not guilty last week.

The girl was found unresponsive inside the family's Warwick home in February and pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said at the time the death appears unintentional and the girl had no visible physical injuries.

The baby's father, 37-year-old Ryan Beeley, is free on $50,000 bond after pleading not guilty to cruelty to or neglect of a child.

Authorities said at the time that Beeley and the infant were home alone.

Ramos' attorney did not immediately return a request for comment.
