Car crashes into Massachusetts emergency room

NEWTON, Mass. (AP) — Officials say two elderly women suffered minor injuries after their car crashed through the emergency room window at a Massachusetts hospital.

A spokeswoman for the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton says an 87-year-old woman was driving her friend's car to the hospital after her friend had a nosebleed.

Officials say the woman tried to park the car when the gas pedal got stuck. The car smashed into the window of the pediatric waiting area of the emergency room.

The spokeswoman says no one was inside the waiting area at the time.

The two women were evaluated at the hospital, and are expected to be ok.

Officials say the building did not appear to have extensive damage. The emergency room stayed open during and after the crash.
