Get Syked! Wanda Sykes come to Foxwoods

When you talk about best sitcom sidekicks in recent years, you’ve got to include Wanda Sykes.

Sykes was a match made in humor heaven with Julia Louis-Dreyfus on “The New Adventures of Old Christine.” No wonder she was upped from recurring status to a series regular, playing Christine’s voice-of-reason best pal. They were comically complementary to the nth degree.

Sykes has made her mark in plenty of other TV shows, too, from “Curb Your Enthusiasm” to “Black-ish.” She co-created a production company and has starred in specials on HBO. All this after leaving her job as a procurement specialist at the National Security Agency to pursue a career in comedy — good move, Wanda!

Speaking of her comedy, Sykes performs her stand-up Friday at Foxwoods’ Fox Theater, and it’s bound to be hilarious.

Wanda Sykes, 8 p.m. Friday, Foxwoods' Fox Theater; $45-$65; 1-800-200-2882.
