Last year, several of the area's top young musicians formed a free-flowing indie rock/soul band called No Mind, who are newly nominated in the Best Jam Band Category of the recently announced 2016 Whalie Awards. Featuring Trevor Giles, Nick Cancelmo, Noah Feldman, Christine Salazaar and Christian Brunelle, No Mind presents their fluid and melodic approach when they perform Thursday for the latest episode in The Day's "Live Lunch Break" concert series.

Expect fresh and creative tunes, empathetic virtuosity, and musical touchstones ranging from Vince Guaraldi and Charlie Parker to Brandi Carlisle and Counting Crows. The idea of melding such disparate components into a pleasing sonic bouillabaisse — and No Mind are just the folks to do it — is a pretty intoxicating idea.
