Lyme Art Association hosts landscape exhibition

    “Late Winter” by Thomas Adkins

The Lyme Impressionists, of course, were famously inspired by the landscape of our region. In acknowledgment of that, the Lyme Art Association hosts an annual exhibition focusing on the landscape of New England. This year, the group invited acclaimed artists John Traynor, Neil Hughes and Thomas Adkins to participate alongside the association’s member artists. The results can be seen in the 2016 “New England Landscape Invitational Exhibition,” which opens Friday and boasts an opening reception 5-7 p.m. Sept. 9. The show runs through Nov. 18. Take note: At the same time, the gallery will feature works by the Society of Connecticut Sculptors. The association at 90 Lyme St., Old Lyme, is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed.-Sun. and by appointment; (860) 434-7802. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
