The United, in partnership with the Yellow Farmhouse Education Center, has formed a second series highlighting local food, which will kick off May 19 with a program that will showcase the Mystic-to-Westerly food corridor.

“The United Table: Yellow Farmhouse” series will highlight “what’s happening in the fields and waters, and kitchens and classrooms as chefs and farmers and educators work together to create the food future we all want to see,” said Tony Nunes, Artistic Director at The United.

Nunes said the series complements a partnership between The United and Eating with the Ecosystem, a Wakefield, R.I. non-profit focused on a place-based approach to seafood in New England.

On May 19, “Our Food Story” will feature a panel led by Jennifer Rothman of the Yellow Farmhouse and include James Beard finalist Renee Touponce, chef/owner of Oyster Club and The Port of Call; Matt Durham, educator at Yellow Farmhouse, and Jane Meiser, director at Stone Acre Farms.

They will explore the partnership between Stone Acre, 85th Day, and the Yellow Farmhouse as an example of local farmers, chefs, and educators working together to produce, prepare, and educate for a better food future.

Following the panel, attendees can sip free beer or wine along with a tasting of local staples. Guests will also receive a discount to use at Stone Acres Farm.

Tickets for the 4 p.m. program are $20 and available at www.unitedtheatre.org.
