Each of these four-song EPs were released this year — the second hit stores just last week — and I'm not sure why Draper just didn't come out with one album. In any event, both recordings are tremendous examples of clever songwriting and superb performances. Draper, former leader of the progressive Britpop band Mansun, has been largely absent from music for some time now. Whether the time off contributed to the majesty of the tunes — innovative, flowing structures, waterfall melodies and constant surprises — Draper sounds totally recharged and in charge. You still have a few weeks to absorb these works and acknowledge them on your Year End Best-Of lists.
