Groton's City Cabaret kicks off in January
The schedule for City Cabaret 2017 has been finalized for the 12th season, which will begin in January. This year, there will something new: a fourth concert in April.
All City Cabaret 2017 concerts are held at 3 p.m. on select Sundays in the City of Groton Auditorium, 295 Meridian St., Groton.
The schedule is:
Jan. 8: The Mass-Conn Fusion Duo pairs the up-right bass, played by Jim Healy, with saxophone, played by Liz Healy. They say, "All styles of music are fair game from Take 5 to Maroon 5."
Feb. 19: Andy Sherwood's Dixieland Jazz Quartet features Andy Sherwood, playing the clarinet; Ian Franke on piano; Tom Briggs on drums; and Bryan Rizzuto on bass.
March 12: The O'Brien Strings, a classical trio, plays everything from Bach to Broadway. The trio consists of Kate O'Brien on the violin, Lydia Leizman on the viola, and Christine Harrington on the cello.
April 9: As Time Goes By, a local community swing band, is an outgrowth of the Noank-Mystic Community Band. The group has been playing as a swing band for the past two years.
