    The Kate welcomes Rosanne Cash

Singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash (Victoria Will, Invision/AP)

Why, this is certainly a busy week for the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center.

On Sunday, Kiefer Sutherland shows his music chops when he performs some of the country-flecked songs from his debut album, "Down In A Hole."

And then on Wednesday, the Kate hosts Rosanne Cash, showcasing songs from her multi-Grammy-winning 2014 album "The River & the Thread."

Both concerts are being filmed for "The Kate," the CPTV series airing nationally that features certain shows at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center.

Joining Cash at the Kate is her collaborator and husband, John Leventhal. He was producer, arranger, co-writer and guitarist on "The River & the Thread." The album focuses on the South and the impact it has had on the culture in general and on Memphis native Cash in particular.

Even before "The River & the Thread," of course, Cash had developed quite a career. She has seen 21 of her singles hit the top 20 on the country charts, and she's been inducted into tthe Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Rosanne Cash, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; sold out; 1-877-503-1286.
