Flow Tribe delivers the funk Sunday in Wolf Den

The superb New Orleans band Flow Tribe was kindled out of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, when five 18- and 19-year-old natives decided to help heal their beloved city through the magic of music. Working to rebuild their parents' destroyed homes by day and rehearsing at night, Flow Tribe forged a percolating blend of second-line and hip hop rhythms, rock, funk and soul.

Traveling the nation, sonically preaching the glories of their hometown to the Louisiana displaced as well as "strangers," Flow Tribe are on pace to earn a reputation as ambassadors in the same context of folks like Louis Armstrong, the Neville Brothers, the Radiators, the Marsalis family, Dr. John and more. See, hear, feel and breathe the grooves Sunday when Flow Tribe plays a free show in the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den. Wanna little taste? Download or stream their "At Capacity (Live at Tipitina's)" album — and I promise you'll be at this show.

Flow Tribe, 7 p.m. Sunday, Mohegan Sun Wolf Den; free; 1-800-745-3000.
