Music tip: Ed Sheeran's latest is effortlessly catchy

    ÷, Ed Sheeran

Is it fair to refer to Ed Sheeran as a bubbling fountain of clever pop? Yes. He seems to be unable to NOT spill over with e'er-pleasant melodies and neat narrative twists on the romantic/relationship focuses inherent in the form. It's also accurate to describe Sheeran as a pop magnet. All sorts of stylistic flavors and rhythms adhere to his strummy acoustic formula which, combined with his distinctive vocal waver, instantly transform obvious influences into imprinted Sheeran-isms. On his brand-new and mostly irresistible album, "÷" (pronounced "Divide"), Sheeran ladles out the hooks effortlessly — with the perhaps interesting observation that "Supermarket Flowers," a glorious and sad ballad about his grandmother, might be his best song ever.
