They’ve got magic to do: "Pippin" comes to Foxwoods

The latest tour of the musical “Pippin” comes to Foxwoods for a four-day run starting tonight.

“Pippin” debuted on Broadway in 1973, nabbing a Tony Award nomination for best musical.

And “Pippin” won the Best Musical Revival Tony Award in 2013. The Prather Entertainment Group tour that comes to Foxwoods is based on that circus-inspired production.

“Pippin” is set among the members of a performance troupe led by the Leading Player. Pippin is a prince who is searching for meaning and for himself, which he does in war and in love. “Pippin” boasts songs by Stephen Schwartz, who might now be best known as the composer of “Wicked.” Songs in “Pippin” include “Corner of the Sky” and “Magic to Do.”

    “Pippin,” Fox Theater, Foxwoods; 8 p.m. tonight-Sun., 2 p.m. Sat. and Sun.; $40, $55; 1-800-200-2882.
