New London ― Cruise ships will make multiple stops in New London this spring through October, giving passengers time to explore the city and other local destinations.

The city announced Monday that American Cruise Lines ships, accommodating 90 to 100 passengers, will visit New London eight times, starting Wednesday.

The ships will dock at City Pier as part of the American Cruise Lines’ Yankee Seaports Cruise, an eight-day cruise from Boston to New York. Passengers will have opportunities to see New London and visit the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, Thames River Water Taxi, Submarine Force/USS Nautilus Museum, and Mystic Seaport Museum.

Dockmaster Barbara Neff will arrange logistics for the trips and give passengers gift bags.

Cruise ships visited New London in April 2022 when two cruise ships, from the American Queen Voyages line, made stops.

“I’m happy with any opportunity to bring new visitors to New London, but especially now with our downtown streetscape improvements evolving, new restaurants opening and renovations continuing on a number of buildings,” Mayor Michael Passero said in a statement. “With State Pier filling up again with offshore wind turbine components for Revolution Wind and EB across the way, they will see New London’s role as a center of the maritime, or ‘blue,’ economy in New England.”

The following visits are scheduled: May 8-10; May 29-31; June 27-29; Oct. 3; Oct. 7; Oct. 10–11; Oct. 16-18; Oct. 24.
