Chelsea Players hold auditions for comedy "Women in Jeopardy"

Auditions for Chelsea Players’ upcoming production, “Women in Jeopardy,” will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10 at United Congregational Church Hall, 87 Broadway, Norwich.

“Women in Jeopardy” is an outrageous comedy that’s also a murder mystery. Set in Salt Lake City in the present day, it involves three female friends, two of whom are very concerned because the third is dating a guy who is so creepy they suspect he may be a deranged killer.

There are parts for three middle-aged women, a middle-aged man, and a male and female in their late teens or early 20s. In addition, the middle-aged man has to play two characters, the creepy boyfriend and the policeman who is on the murder case. The boyfriend should resemble a notorious real “bad guy,” such as Christopher Walken, Gary Busey, Boris Karloff, O.J. Simpson or the Unabomber. The two younger characters are supposed to be rather dense, one a surfer dude and the other an airhead. The dialogue is rapid-fire and funny.

The production is scheduled for early November, and auditions will be readings from the script. For questions, email director Val O’Keefe at valokeefe@comcast.net or assistant director Ken Lamothe at klamothe37@gmail.com.
