Touch a Truck returns May 4 to Niantic

A previous Touch a Truck event (Submitted)

Children and adults can see, touch and climb on vehicles ranging from emergency and rescue vehicles to military tanks to construction rigs during the May 4 Touch A Truck event in Niantic.

This 15th Annual CFA Journey: Touch A Truck held by the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern CT will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in McCook Point Park.

Suggested entrance donation is $5, free for children 2 and younger. The event is held rain or shine.

Proceeds support CFA’s mission to provide high-quality mental health, medical, and supportive programming to children and families in the community.

In partnership with the Miracle League of Southeastern CT, the first hour of the CFA Journey will offer a reduced sensory experience and limit the use of sirens and lights.

The Niantic Children’s Museum, Pollinator Pathways East Lyme, and Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center will host activities at the event. The Snow Sisters will present an enchanted princess show, and a “Jedi Master” will lead Jedi training. Authors include Abi Cushman, Ebbie Young, Leslie Woods and Robin Nelson.

A Walt Disney World Drawing will offer $10,000 towards an official Disney vacation. The first 1,000 people to enter the drawing will receive one free ticket to the Mystic Aquarium plus a chance to win one of seven family-centric prizes. For tickets or more info, visit trellis.org/cfa-journey.

Serving 10,000 children and families annually, CFA is the largest non-profit social service provider in southeastern CT, with four outpatient mental health clinics in Westbrook, New London, Groton, and Pawcatuck.
