Krista Baroni sings Sunday at Bee & Thistle

    Krista Baroni (Submitted)

Those familiar with the musical mystique of LA's Laurel Canyon, circa 1965-mid '70s, know it was an enclave that nurtured the soothing sounds of luminaries such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and Graham Parsons.

(Frank Zappa, too, but that doesn't really fit with where we're going here.)

Krista Baroni, a native of Massachusetts who recently relocated to Waterford, is a musician with significant Laurel Canyon influences. These can be heard in rich and evocative fashion on Baroni's 2015 album "The Alabaster Girl," which was recorded locally at Dirt Road Studios with the capable production skills of Eric Lichter.

See Baroni, with Brother Stereo, perform Sunday at the Bee & Thistle.

Krista Baroni, 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Bee & Thistle, 100 Lyme St., Old Lyme; free; (860) 434-1667.
