An ageless voice: Tom Jones comes to Foxwoods

Tom Jones (Vianney Le Caer, Invision/AP)

    How’s this for symmetry:

Back when he was a young Turk, Tom Jones possessed such a powerful singing voice that he earned the nickname The Voice.

Then, in his 70s, Jones was hired as a coach on the UK version of (you guessed it) “The Voice.”

And get this: Jones still showcases an inhumanly impressive vocal ability — at age 77! Just Google some of his performances on “The Voice,” including an impromptu, at first a cappella version of “Great Balls of Fire.”

Fans can hear him turn himself loose Saturday in concert at Foxwoods. Jones will fit in older hits like “It’s Not Unusual” and “If I Only Knew” amidst songs off his recent trio of albums, “Praise & Blame,” “Spirit in the Room” and “Long Lost Suitcase.”

Getting back to “The Voice”: Jones has brought an act he coached on that British series on tour as his opener. It’s the Welsh duo dubbed Into the Ark, featuring Taylor Jones and Dane Lloyd.

Tom Jones, 8 p.m. Saturday, Foxwoods’ Grand Theater; $65-$105; 1-800-200-2882.
