Music on the Hill in Westerly presents Mendelssohn program Saturday

Pianist Donna Lee (Kent State University)

On their 2009-2010 "Into the Wild" junket, the band Thirty Seconds to Mars played 304 dates with stops across Europe and North America as well as gigs in Australia, Africa, Asia, South America and more. According to the "Guinness Book of We Keep Track of Such Things," it's the longest continual tour behind one album in rock history.

It's perhaps not as expansive or logistically ambitious but ... prepare for Rhode Island's seven-concert 2018 Music on the Hill Festival, kicking off Saturday with a program of Mendelssohn at Dunn's Corner Community Church in Westerly. Cellist Keith Robinson and pianist Donna Lee will perform, and selections include Album Leaf in B minor and Song Without Words, Op. 109 in D Major; Variations Concertantes, Op. 17 in D Major; Sonata No. 1, Op. 45 in B Flat Major; and Sonata No. 2, Op. 58 in D Major.

Other Music on the Hill presentations take place through June 10 at various locations across Rhode Island. For more information, access musiconthehillri.org.

Music on the Hill, 7 p.m. Saturday, Dunn's Corner Community Church, 221 Post Road, Westerly; "Mendelssohn," Keith Robinson and Donna Lee; $20 advance, $25 door; musiconthehillri.org.
