Home state gal Caroline Jones brings C&W chops to Wolf Den Sunday

    Caroline Jones (carolinejones.com)

George Jones is from Poteet, Texas. Patsy Cline was born in Winchester, Virginia. Granite Falls, North Carolina is home to Eric Church, and Carrie Underwood's from Muskogee, Okla. The ol' country music and the south dynamic, right?

Oh, and don't forget upstart Caroline Jones. She just finished tours opening for Jimmy Buffett and then the Zac Brown Band, and her recent "Bare Feet" album earned her a spot on Billboard's "15 Country Artists to Watch" in 2018. Her sound is feisty, hummable, witty, and boasts plenty of pop-twang. And, ah, Jones hails from Greenwich here in the Nutmeg State and was educated at that hotbed of C&W music, the Professional Children's School in New York City.

    Could have fooled me!

Jones plays Sunday in the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den, so don't be surprised if she introduces great tunes like "Tough Guys" and "Twilight's Crying" in an accent that sounds like Kate Hepburn.

Caroline Jones, 7 p.m. Sunday, Mohegan Sun Wolf Den; free.
