Before there was Queen Bey, there was Queen Latifah.

Latifah has been a groundbreaker in her own right, as a rapper, actress and businesswoman. Heck, she was even the first hip-hop performer to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (That happened in 2006.)

One of her more recent projects: she has partnered with Procter & Gamble and Tribeca Studios to establish The Queen Collective, an initiative aimed at increasing gender and racial equality behind the camera.

And, fans, she’s still doing music. She’ll perform Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena.
