Summer tradition: East Lyme out to conserve water
East Lyme — The Board of Selectmen has instituted water-conservation measures in East Lyme again this summer.
Water restrictions will be in effect from 9 a.m. on Friday through noon on Monday of each week.
During that time, users of the East Lyme water system will be prohibited from sprinkling, watering or irrigating their lawns; washing their motor vehicles and the outdoor surfaces of all buildings or structures, sidewalks and driveways; prohibited from filling or cleaning swimming and wading pools; and public restaurants will be prohibited from providing water to customers unless requested.
There is a fine of no more than $99 for people in violation of the restrictions.
