Blumenthal was at Reid's Vancouver fundraiser, campaign confirms

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal attended a fundraiser for Democratic Senate candidates in Vancouver, British Columbia, his campaign confirmed late Monday, the same day Republicans criticized the opposing party and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for raising campaign funds outside of U.S. borders.

Blumenthal was in attendance at the fundraiser organized by the Committee for a Better Future, a campaign spokeswoman confirmed on Monday. The committee is affiliated with the American Association for Justice and the National Association of Trial Lawyer Executives, according to reports like this one, from The Hill.

Republicans, including Reid's opponent, Sharron Angle, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee, are slamming the fundraiser, charging that Democratic candidates have been forced to seek financial support outside the country as they struggle to retain their control of the Senate and House of Representatives.

It's unclear how much of Blumenthal's support so far has come from trial lawyers or their affiliated committees. What is clear -- see here -- is that when committees report their fundraising in a few days, he'll have some catching up to do.
