Someday Andre Drummond, who's already creating a buzz in college basketball recruiting circles, could be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Drummond, a 16-year-old from Middletown and student at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, already has made the inside pages of the sports magazine.
Right there on pages 116-117 of the summer double issue, there's a big picture of the 6-foot-11 Drummond and a short profile in a section on 16 Stars of Tomorrow. The headline reads, "Where Will They Be?"
The article lists Drummond's achievements and describes him as "a cross between Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett."
St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn is quoted in the article as saying: "He's got God-given abilities as an athlete. He's walking around with a (winning) Powerball ticket in his pocket, but he's such a good kid - just polite and respectful."
Just about every major college basketball program, including UConn, is recruiting Drummond.
