A convenient time for COLA increase
Isn't it strange that the House is going to consider legislation to give $250 to those receiving Social Security?
And is it coincidence that this is just weeks before the mid-term elections?
They say this is because there will be no cost-of-living increase in Social Security. Well, that is probably because there has been no increase in the index used to compute COLA increases.
I guess this means that there is no increase in the cost of living - assuming that President Obama keeps his "firm pledge" that our taxes will not increase. If you doubt he made such a pledge, see the video at http://thurly.net/yez.
