Norwich - The Frederick J. Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2212 and American Legion Post 104 in Taftville will hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park in Taftville,

Local citizens, civic groups and veterans are asked to gather at Memorial Park on the corner of South Second Avenue and South B Street to recognize area veterans.

The ceremony will include the story of how Ranger 12, an EA-3B Skywarrior, was lost, with seven crew members in the Mediterranean Sea in 1987.

"It is pertinent because this was a time where America was at peace and it highlights the everyday dangers of military life," said Post 2212 Commander Dennis Baptiste. "It is also important to me to tell this story because one of the crew of Ranger 12 was Lt. Steve Batchelder, a friend of mine."
