Small cars don''t fit some family lifestyles

President Obama recently answered a gasoline price question by saying, "If people are worried about higher gas prices, they should buy a small car."

I know he is a smart man so this answer is either disingenuous or arrogant. Like most people I drive a larger car not because I want to use more gas but because it fits my lifestyle.

How are boat or travel trailer owners going to pull their units with a Chevy Volt? Will a family of five get everything into a small car for a week's vacation? How is the little electric car going to compete with the semi-trucks on the interstate?

Forcing everyone into a small alternate energy vehicle will work as good as the carpool initiatives and lanes do. Better answers: Start drilling into our own resources and start telling the Middle East that we are not their money bag.

If they want protection or something from us they must pay for it. We expended much treasury and human life in the Middle East. We will have to do it again if we just pick up and leave. To the victor go the spoils of war.

Finally, I'll buy a Volt right after I see only Volts in the presidential motorcade.
