Drummond joins Dunn at Wilbraham & Monson

Andre Drummond, the reigning Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year, will join New London's Kris Dunn at Wilbraham & Monson Academy in the fall, according to multiple media reports.

Drummond, a Middletown native who played at St. Thomas More in Oakdale for the past two seasons, also announced on Wednesday he has narrowed his college choice to five schools, including UConn.

"He left St. Thomas More as an academic honors student," St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn said. "He came in as the top player (in his class) and left as the top player, so we're very comfortable with what we did with him. We always have the student-athletes' best interests at heart. We wish him the best in the future."

The 6-foot-10, 275-pound Drummond, who could be eligible for the 2012 NBA Draft, also listed Georgetown, Louisville, West Virginia and Kentucky.

Dunn, a close friend and Connecticut Basketball Club teammate of Drummond, announced his decision to leave New London High for prep school last month.

Wilbraham & Monson is coached by Chris Sparks, who was an assistant coach under Glen Miller at Pennsylvania. Miller is now in his second stint as a UConn assistant.

Dunn led New London to the school's ninth state championship this spring and averaged 25 points per game during his junior season. Named The Day's Player of the Year twice, he was named the state player of the year by the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association, leading the Whalers to an undefeated season and the state's No. 1 ranking.

The 6-foot-3-inch point guard is considering UConn, Marquette, Boston College, Louisville and Providence, among others.
