Lebanon - Lyman Memorial entered Tuesday's Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division high school baseball showdown needing to win to stay in the title race.

Mission accomplished.

Austin Creamer's one-out single in the ninth inning gave Lyman a 3-2 victory over St. Bernard. The Bulldogs (9-5, 6-1) moved into first place. The Saints are 8-5, 5-1.

Lyman dropped the first meeting 3-2 on April 11.

"It was a great game," Lyman coach Marty Gomez said. "Any time Lyman plays St. Bernard, it's a pretty big game. We certainly knew what was at stake and we had to battle to win the game."

The Bulldogs had to rally from a 2-0 deficit in the sixth to even the season series.

Keith Chamberlain's two-run double tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Chamberlain also pitched well, scattering seven hits, striking out six and walking one in 8 1/3 innings.

Casey Szuba started the ninth-inning rally with a double before Creamer delivered.

"The kids just really hung in there and found a way to come back and beat them in a crucial game," Gomez said.

Chris Gonnelli led the Bulldogs with three hits and scored a run and Szuba had two hits.

Pete Aldrich had two hits and Izzy Davila pitched well for St. Bernard, allowing two runs in 7 1/3 innings.

Neither team committed an error.

In other games:

• Jeff Robbins and Jordan Volpe combined on a no-hitter in Montville's 8-1 win over Killingly in the ECC Medium Division. It was Montville's first no-hitter since 2006. Max Hart had a triple and two RBI while Volpe (two RBI) and Ryan Hewitt each had two hits for the Indians (13-2, 7-0).

• Doug Domnarski pitched a five-hit shutout and struck out seven, leading Stonington past Bacon Academy 5-0 in the ECC Medium Division.

Paul Hallinan had a two-run home run and a single while Ryan Francis had a single, double and an RBI and Max Kelley went 2-for-3 for the Bears (9-5, 4-2). Ryan Duclos doubled and Jeremy Abbatomarco had two hits for Bacon (5-7, 1-6).

• Trevor Stefanski scattered five hits and Wheeler scored three runs in the second inning to defeat Griswold 3-1 in the ECC Small Division. Asa Palmer went 2-for-2 and Kevin Knowles had a hit and an RBI for the Lions (2-12, 2-7). Jesus Garcia doubled for Griswold (6-9, 2-5) and Tim Martineck had an RBI single.

• John Conley went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI, powering Fitch past New London 6-1 in the ECC Large Division. Shawn Nadeau pitched a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking one, and Jack Porter had a single and RBI for the Falcons (12-2, 6-1). Brendan McNeil had a single, double and RBI for New London (7-6, 2-5).

• Jordan Kowalski and Walter Strelevitz each went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in Ledyard's 5-2 loss to Windham in the ECC Medium Division. The Colonels are 4-9, 1-6.

• Louis Prion and Nolan D'Amico of Waterford combined to pitch a two-hitter as St. Thomas More defeated Williams School 5-0 in the SENE. Prion and Mark Fitzgerald had two hits apiece for T-More (6-3, 1-3), while Andy Meagher doubled for the Blues (2-10, 0-5).

• Erik Nicholson pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three in Old Lyme's 10-0 shutout of Hyde. Billy Buscetto, Slater Gregory, Mike Mann and Phil Cohen each had two hits for the Wildcats (8-6).
