A welcoming addition at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden's new visitor center features 100,000 plants - many of them on the roof.

A leaf-shaped event space and interpretive exhibits are also part of the 20,000-square-foot building.

Organizers of the official opening last week said the project symbolizes the connection between the urban and natural worlds "in forward-thinking ways."
