Two really great articles in The Day, June 13: the front page story about Groton city firefighters rescuing a confused stray kitten from certain death, "Rescued Kitten Has Eight Lives To Go," showing that compassion and decency are alive and well. Also, the Grace magazine insert feature on local boxer Kelsey Kaiser from New London's Strike Zone-Whaling City Boxing on Bank Street. It's also worth mentioning that this talented and elegant young woman received a good deal of training from legendary boxing coach, Rollie Pier, a man devoted to the "Sweet Science" and a master mentor to many participants.
