Westerly, R.I. (AP) — A concession stand at a Westerly ball field has become a popular stop for thieves.
WPRI-TV reports someone broke in last week and stole about $200 in cash and candy from the building.
It was the fifth such theft at the stand in the last four years.
Police say the last break-in was easy to solve. A trail of candy wrappers led police to home of some local youths.
Stephen Baker of the Westerly Girls Softball League says the break-ins are frustrating, because the league uses the money to sponsor girls who otherwise could not afford to play.
A City Council committee is considering a proposal to ban smoking at city parks and beaches in New London. Should smoking be prohibited in these public places?
