Ledyard — The report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Saw Mill Park on Tuesday afternoon led to the arrest of a resident who allegedly stole a car from New London and then placed a stolen license plate from Westerly, R.I., on the car, police said.

Samuel Greene, 35, of 7 Lee Brook Drive, was charged with second-degree larceny on Tuesday. He was also wanted on eight outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court.

When police arrived at Saw Mill Park, they found the empty vehicle. Using police dogs, police were able to track Greene to his home on Lee Brook Drive.

He was held on a $172,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court today.
