    Napier’s 22 points lifts UConn over UMass-Lowell

    Shabazz Napier scored 22 points and UConn concluded its preseason with a 100-62 rout over UMass-Lowell Sunday at the XL Center in Hartford.

    Deandre Daniels had 15 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks for the Huskies. Freshman Omar Calhoun added 20 points.

    UConn begins its regular season Friday against 14th-ranked Michigan State in the Armed Forces Classic at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. It will be its first regular season game under new head coach Kevin Ollie, who takes over for Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun.

    UConn trailed by a point with over seven minutes left in the first half when it went on a 13-4 run. Boatwright had back-to-back baskets during the run as the Huskies pulled ahead, 39-31, with four minutes, 41 seconds remaining.
